The body of the violin can be made of a variety of different woods, such as Norway spruce (such as the famous wood from Paneveggio, Italy) and sycamore maple (with tightly spaced flame marbling). The tuning pegs are usually made from hard woods such as rosewood, whilst the tailpiece is made of pear wood and the fingerboard from ebony.
